Ian teaches in a calm, grounding, and mindful way that challenges and encourages his students to work within the breath and body to find a deeper connection to self and individually enhance their practice. His classes incorporate breath work, alignment and strong foundational postures in a way that allows students to move through the practice at all levels, from advanced to beginner alike. Ian strives to create a positive and open space for student exploration with compassion and the belief that yoga truly is a lifetime practice. He hopes to share with his students his sense of family and community, as Ian believes that yoga can benefit every person who walks into his class regardless of experience.
Ian came into the practice in 2009 initially as a means to develop greater strength and flexibility, and quickly determined that awareness of the breath and internal mind are equal if not greater to any benefits in the external body. After many years of devoted practice working through the Forrest and hatha traditions on an individual level, he decided to move forward in an RYT 200 hour teacher training and share his experience with others. Over the years spent on and off the mat, Ian has developed a dedicated practice that allows him to live in his yoga every day and hopes to share its benefits across his community.
Outside of the studio, Ian loves scrambling around in the woods, practicing with his wife (and favorite teacher), exploring nature with his kids, and listening to music as loud as possible whenever the situation is appropriate…which is all the time.
